Dear Friends,

We pray you are safe and well.

In the spirit of our philosophy of co-creating community and our awareness that the Spirit speaks through each of us, we invite you to share your meditations with us as well. We truly believe that in God’s economy of abundance, when we share our blessings, our thoughts, our feelings, we are all made richer.

Today's Meditation is a hopeful message from Edwina Gateley who echoes Mechtild of Magdeburg: God is with us in these times. It was sent to us by Irene Desharnais.

We invite you to join us as we commit ourselves to working tirelessly to end systemic and structural racism in our society, in healthcare, in the workplace, in the Church--wherever it shows up so that everyone may come to have more abundant life. May this meditation nourish our contemplative-active hearts and sustain all of us in action.

We hope and pray that you and your loved ones experience genuine peace of mind and heart, and remain in good health during this challenging time.

In this "Season of Ordinary Time" in the Church Year, may this be a time of peace, of healing and hope, of the infusion of joy in your life!

With our love and care,

Ron & Jean

MEDITATION 187: Edwina Gateley echoes Mechtild of Magdeburg: God is with us!

Fall Greetings from Edwina

Fall, 2020

Greetings dear friends.

As I sit on my deck admiring the beauty of creation – the gentle breeze swaying the branches, the brilliant red and gold of Fall leaves and a lone bird singing joyfully - I am conscious, in the midst of all this loveliness, of an all pervading sadness beyond my garden walls.

These are painful times : the corona virus, current political chaos, unemployment, raging wildfires and unpredictable and devastating weather... it is no wonder that we are experiencing a heaviness within and around us. This, indeed, is a time when our faith is severely tested :

Where is God?

Where indeed?

Watching over us , surrounding us, and longing for us to dare believe what we desperately need to understand at this time, that, as Mechtild of Magdeburg wrote: “God is incapable of leaving us.”

I wrote these few lines about that reality:

God is with us.

In all the mess,

In all the chaos,

In all the fear,

God waits,

Longing for our glance

of recognition -

acknowledging

the Holy One

in the deep center

of our despair,

God, incapable of leaving us

because we are of God's substance.

And all will be well,

All will be well...

For God is with us

in it all.

All things change and all things pass. It is not easy for us to hold on to this truth - given our current reality , on going insecurity and fear. But what IS real is that God is with us – sharing our substance and reality, and holding us tight in love through it all.

And so we await Advent – and new possibilities.

Blessings and Peace to you,

Edwina

(Talking about new possibilities - please consider joining me for my Holy Land tour in March! We need to have something to look forward to and get excited about!)
